Objective: In-depth discussion on how to integrate multiple resources to cope with the changes of blindness prevention in Africa in 2020 and beyond, and what strategies should be adopted to continuously improve the overall service capacity of eye health in African countries.

Background:

In August 2018, the ‘2018 Eye Health Forum on China-Africa Cooperation’held in Beijing was the first formal dialogue between China and Africa. In 2019, National Training Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Blindness, is committed to strengthening international cooperation in development, holding the “2019 Eye Health Forum on China-Africa Cooperation”in Kigali, Rwanda, and the "2019 Belt and Road National Eye Health Forum" in Dares Salaam, Tanzania respectively. After the forum, National Training Center, together with He Eye Specialist Hospital has begun to reach out to the countries including Cameroon, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, etc, to promote China's prevention and treatment blindness mode to African countries. It is the model combining with artificial intelligence, big data analysis and cloud platform.

National Training Center will continue to deepen China-Africa friendship, faithfully push forwards the achievements of the forum on China-Africa cooperation and the Belt and Road cooperation forum, and help African countries fundamentally solve the problem of prevention and treatment of blindness.
